Lois Wolford is a talented watercolor painter. Her realistic portrayal of middle aged women clad in printed garments armed with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee are absolutely WONDERFUL! RISING FROM THE ASHES; A MEMEORY OF BARBARA MARCUS
September 11 - October 20, 2008
Painter, Michael Economos' presents his first series of work to emerge since the untimely death of his wife, artist Barbara Marcus. Bound by grief the work is raw in content and beautiful in execution. Due to the adult content, the work it is not suitable for children. Simultaneously, the work of Barbara Marcus' will be on view and requires no viewer discretion. The paintings are filled with Barbara's love and compassion for the planet and it's inhabitants. Barbara Marcus might be best known for spearheading "The Face of Courage," a project that traveled the country featuring a portrait of every 911 fallen firefighter. Champagne Preview requiring reservation is September 11 from 7 - 9 PM. The Opening reception: Saturday, September 13, 2008 from 6-8 PM. Show hangs from September 11 - October 20, 2008. 2008 NORTHERN CENTRAL RAILROAD PHOTO CONTEST

Artist' reception Saturday, October 25th from 3 – 5
This contest is for amateur photographers of all experience levels utilizing their choice of camera. Photographs may be in color, black and white, sepia tones, or any combination thereof. Photographs must be taken along the Torrey C. Brown (formerly NCR) Trail or within its neighboring environs and may not have been previously entered in this contest. Gunpowder Falls State Park and Diddywopps and Keeffers do not assume responsibility for any accidental damage or theft that may occur at anytime before, during, or after the show.
The show will open on Thursday, October 23rd, and close on Sunday, October 26th.
Artists’ reception will be Saturday, October 25th, from 3 – 5 pm and open to the public.
Participants may enter up to three photographs any size equal or greater than 5 x 7. All entries must be matted or framed and ready for wall mounting. All work must be labeled with the artist's name, address, phone, title and sale price of the work. Work not meeting this criteria will not be accepted. Submit work to Diddywopps and Keeffers located at 1901 Monkton Road on October 20th between the hours of 11 am and 5 pm. All work must be recovered on Sunday, October 26th, between the hours of 11 am and 4 pm. All work left past this time will be considered abandoned.
Entries will be judged by artist/photographer Joanne Hicks. Awards will based on overall relevance, artistic vision and photo quality. Photographs submitted by Gunpowder staff will judged by the public October 23 and 24 by secret ballot to award First, Second, and Third place ribbons.
Gunpowder Falls State Park reserves the right to reproduce at their cost any of the photos entered in the contest for use by the Department of Natural Resources and or Maryland Park Service with acknowledgement given to the photographer. Diddywopps and Keeffers will donate their commission from all photograph sales to the Northern Baltimore County Art Foundation (NBCAF.com).
